Vintage 1971 Dawn Doll Dawn Beauty Pageant (Struggles But Works) READ DESCRIPTION. Condition is "Used".Item is used and the item is 50 years old.
Item has scuffs, scratches, dents, dings, chips, marks, and is dirty.
Stickers and cardboard has scuffs, scratches, dents, dings, dirty, marks, tears, rolls, and some stickers are missing.
Battery compartment has had leaking batteries at one time but no major damage done. Power still travels through the system and the motor runs.
Several rusted screws and connectors.
The cardboard box is solid and in my opinion a display piece itself. Please ask for more photos if you would like to see more of the box.
Item has been tested.
I placed 2 new D-cell batteries (NOT INCLUDED) in it and turned it on.
The motor made an awful screaming noise, I placed a couple of drops of all in one oil on the spindle going to the first pulley and then assisted in turning the pulley to work in the oil and it took off. The other gears moved and came to life and the chain and the platforms the dolls are supposed to stand on started moving as they should to the front of the stage as described. Once it made it’s way to the end of the stage its stops rather than turn around. Upon inspection and playing with the switches, it appears that the spring that is suppose to activate the turn around is now weak and cannot flip the switch on its own . Replacing the spring with either a new spring or possibly a rubber band may fix this.
The “Boy Walk” lever doesn’t hold that platform back. That is all it really does is to keep the doll platform that moves partway to the end of the stage. It moves regardless. I do not know how to make this work properly and do not want to break or create problems that I do not need to.
Included is the original box, original instructions, cardboard background, 2 stage bouquets, 1 tiara, and 1 carrying bouquet.
No batteries.
No Dolls.
No sash.
