Description
Émile Gallé (1846-1904) was a renowned French glass artist and one of the leaders of the Art Nouveau movement. In 1901, he and a group of associates formed the Art Nouveau movement known as École de Nancy. This vase is a fine example of his designs, composed of a layer of brown colored glass and a frosted and etched main. The piece is decorated with floral forms typical to the movement. The artist’s mark is in brown glass amidst the design. It is French and dates to the late 19th century or early 20th century. It is in very good condition aside from some matte variation at the base.4 3/4” Diameter
