Subaru What’s New for 2008
· Two new body styles, based on an all-new platform with a 3.7-inch longer wheelbase than previous-generation models (103.1 in. vs. 99.4 in.). New 4-door sedan is larger than its predecessor; new 5-door model replaces previous wagon and combines sporty styling with impressive utility.
· Longer wheelbase results in improved interior roominess and ride quality. New chassis improves crash-worthiness, and delivers crisper handling.
· Sophisticated double-wishbone rear suspension replaces strut-based configuration of the previous model; provides enhanced driving dynamics, ride comfort and interior packaging.
· Vehicle Dynamics Control (VDC) is offered for the first time on Impreza 2.5i models as part of the new optional Premium Package (and standard on Outback Sport).
· Impreza 2.5i Premium Package also includes Incline Start Assist – which can prevent the vehicle from rolling backward when being driven away from a stop on an incline – as well as a significant audio system upgrade and other vehicle enhancements.
· Outback Sport is a 5-door model with two-tone appearance and significant chassis and interior enhancements, including: standard heavy-duty raised suspension, 4-wheel disc brakes, Vehicle Dynamics Control (VDC), Incline Start Assist, 17-inch alloy wheels, dual-mode heated front seats, and cargo area 12v outlet.
· Curtain side air bags standard for all models.
· 2.5-liter Boxer engine modified to provide broader torque curve for better performance and fuel economy.

®
· All-new, more dynamic styling. Enhanced visibility from redesigned D-pillars and larger side mirrors.
· New 256-hp 3.6-liter 6-cylinder Boxer engine replaces 245-hp 3.0-liter Boxer engine and provides substantially greater peak torque – 247 lb.-ft. vs. 215 lb.-ft. for 3.0-liter engine; revisions allow use of regular-grade fuel for reduced operating costs.
· New 3.6-liter engine has same exterior packaging as 3.0-liter, and is eight pounds lighter, to retain the low center of gravity for responsive handling.
· New engine technology includes Dual Active Valve Control System (Dual AVCS), with variable valve timing for intake and exhaust camshafts (vs. intake-only for previous 3.0-liter engine). New chain-drive system is simpler, quieter and lighter.
· Revised 5-speed automatic transmission (with SPORTSHIFT) is lighter and more responsive, with smoother shifting performance.
· On 7-passenger models, 2nd-row tip-slide feature added to left side for access to third row (previously only on right side); new helper spring enables one-handed operation of the tip-slide feature. New grab handles molded into rear side panel trim.

· All Legacy models are sedans and all Outback models are wagons for 2008.
· New model: Legacy 3.0 R Limited, the first-ever 6-cylinder Legacy model, powered by a 245-hp Boxer engine; features a 5-speed automatic transmission with Paddle Shifter including Rev-Matching Downshift Blipping Control, plus the Subaru Intelligent Drive (SI-DRIVE) performance-control system and Bilstein Sport Suspension.
· Legacy and Outback model lines feature revised front and rear styling with all-new front sheetmetal, a larger grille opening, new front and rear bumper fascias, and new headlights and taillights.
· Redesigned instrument panel and revised interior fabrics for all Legacy and Outback models.
· Telescopic steering column and a new integrated ignition key/remote entry standard for all models.
Electroluminescent gauges, formerly featured only on turbo Legacy and Outback models, are now also included in the 6-cylinder models for 2008.
· On premium models, a redesigned steering wheel offers additional control buttons, including the audio system, cruise control, the multi-information display and SI-DRIVE mode.
· 2.5-liter Boxer engine provides enhanced torque and improved fuel efficiency.

Forester
®
· Slight horsepower rating change for PZEV-certified models, now 170 hp and 167 lb.-ft. peak torque vs. 173 hp and 166 lb.-ft. for federal-spec models.
· Vehicle Dynamics Control standard on automatic transmission-equipped turbo models (Sports 2.5 XT and XT Limited).
· Forester 2.5 XT Limited equipped with optional automatic transmission now features the Variable Torque Distribution (VTD) version of Symmetrical AWD, and is also equipped with traction control.
· Revisions to exterior and interior trim on Forester Sports models include black painted surrounds for headlights and tail lights, new 6-spoke 16-inch alloy wheels, silver-painted roof rails and leather wrapped shifter and parking brake handle.
· Forester Sports 2.5 XT, in addition to changes on Sports 2.5 X, also gains body-color roof spoiler with LED high-mount stop lamp and 17-inch 10-spoke STI-style alloy wheels.
· Color revisions include five colors available for the Forester Sports models and a new monotone color option, Topaz Gold, for the Forester L.L.Bean Edition.
· L.L.Bean model gains standard auto-dimming rear-view mirror with HomeLink feature, rear cargo area carpeting and a standard cargo accessory tray.
· Audio system with seven upgraded speakers, including subwoofer, featured in Forester Sports and L.L.Bean models as standard.
· Forester 2.5 X base model gains standard leather-wrapped steering wheel and parking brake handle.
