Description
FROM THE COLLECTION OF FORREST J ACKERMAN.
Vintage original 7 page 1950 letter by (Charles) BATTELL LOOMIS (1889 to ?), son of famous writer CHARLES BATTELL LOOMIS to science fiction author Damon Knight. 8 1/2 x 11, 7 pages typed on one side. Cover page precis and then a 6 page detailed autobiographical letter in which he mentions his father briefly and some other relatives. Mostly details trivial events in his life with some references to his writing. Never achieved any of the notoriety that his famous father did. A scattershot career in writing with long periods of inactivity.
Letter was originally sent to Damon Knight (1922-2002) who probably turned it over to Forrest Ackerman to act as an agent for Battell Loomis, who did sell a handful of science fiction short stories in the 1950s. Cover sheet shown above left. Pages 1 and 6 shown below.
I also have a 2 page letter from Loomis to Forrest Ackerman in my Ebay Store.
