    Description

    This lot consists of a letter, the envelope it was mailed in,
    and a newspaper clipping. These items came from the
    United States Ambassador to the Netherlands.
    Kingdon Gould, Jr.
    (b. 1928) is an American diplomat who
    served as the U.S. Ambassador to Luxembourg, from 1969
    to 1972, and then as the U.S.
    Ambassador to the Netherlands,
    from 1973 to 1976
    . Gould fought in World War II, and received
    two Purple Hearts and two Silver Stars.
    The small clipping shows a photo of Ambassador
    Gould and
    his wife. The clipping is attached to the tag of a Dutch news
    agency.
    Also included is a 1975 letter that accompanied the clipping.
    The letter is typed on Embassy stationery (see scans),
    and was sent from The Hague.
    The letter was written and signed by Grace Bardolph,
    who was the secretary to the ambassador.
    The letter is 10" by 8". It is dated January 16, 1976,
    and is in very good condition.
    Also included is the original envelope in which these items
    were mailed (see scans).
